Praveen Goyal, the father of Siya Goyal, has said his daughter should receive the harshest punishment, including the death penalty, if she is found guilty of murdering her fiance, Ketan Agarwal.
In an emotional interview with India Today TV, Goyal said he was still struggling to come to terms with the allegations against his daughter and revealed that the shock of her arrest had landed him in the intensive care unit. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune after suffering a heart attack.
His remarks came days after police alleged that Siya Goyal and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to murder Ketan by pushing him into a gorge at Pune’s Lohagad Fort on June 18. Both remain in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
“I still find it impossible to believe my daughter could do something like this. She never lied to me and always followed the right path,” he said.
However, Goyal made it clear that his emotions as a father would not come in the way of justice. “If my daughter is found guilty, the court should not delay justice. She should be given the same punishment. As a father, I cannot say anything more than that,” he said.
