Amid the growing unrest in Iran, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi called Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar to discuss the existing situation. Through a post on his X account, Jaishankar acknowledged the verbal communication over the phone.

“Received a call from Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. We discussed the evolving situation in and around Iran,” Jaishankar wrote on X.

The conversation came after the Indian Embassy in Iran asked all nationals – including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists – to leave the country using available means, including commercial flights, as the death toll in the country reached 2,500 over the ongoing protests against the Khamenei regime across the nation.

“All Indian nationals in Iran are requested to also have their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, readily available with them.
