Three Pakistani terrorists who had carried out the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam were killed in a security operation in Dachigam on Monday (July 28, 2025), the Union government told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (July 29, 2025). Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the operation and that the three slain terrorists had been involved in the Pahalgam attack that left 26 people dead.
In his speech during a debate on Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister said that despite the security forces’ success in eliminating these terrorists, some sections of the Opposition were raising questions on the timing of the operation. “What has happened to these people?” he said, pointing to Opposition MPs.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Shah informed the Lok Sabha about Operation Mahadev. “The three terrorists who killed our civilians at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam have been killed,” the Minister said. Since local residents in Jammu and Kashmir are not joining the militant ranks, Pakistan is sending terrorists from across the border to strike terror, he added. “We ensured that the terrorists do not flee to Pakistan,” Mr. Shah said, in his own speech during the Operation Sindoor debate.
