Akshay Kumar’s latest comedy Housefull 5 is proving critics wrong. Even with mixed reviews, the film has managed to collect over Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office within just four days of release. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 is the fifth film in the popular comedy franchise. Set on a luxury cruise, the film follows a murder mystery involving three men named Jolly, who become suspects in the killing of a billionaire. With two different versions, Housefull 5A and 5B, each having its own unique climax, the movie has caught everyone’s attention.
The film has also outperformed Akshay Kumar’s previous hits like Kesari Chapter 2, which ended at Rs 92 crore. It has now become the third-highest Bollywood opener of 2025, behind only Raid 2 and Sikandar. With a massive budget of over Rs 300 crore, the makers hope to see long-term success.
One interesting strategy that helped the film is its dual-ending twist. Viewers could choose between Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B, each ending differently. Reports say that Housefull 5A had higher audience turnout, especially in cities like Jaipur, with almost 26 percent occupancy during night shows.
