In his first Ranji Trophy match for Delhi after more than 12 years, Virat Kohli came out to bat at No. 4 for Delhi on the second of the Elite Group D match currently underway at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, but he failed to do much with the bat and was sent back to the pavilion by 29-year-old Najafgarh-born Himanshu Sangwan.
Kohli was clean bowled by the right-arm medium pacer on the fourth ball of the 28th over of Delhi’s first innings on Friday (January 31). Before returning back to the pavilion, which is named after him, Kohli scored one boundary.
Thousands of fans came to watch the Delhi-Railways match at Feroz Shah Kotla, but after Kohli’s wicket, they were seen leaving the stadium in disappointment.
Kohli was the third Delhi batter to get out in the first innings. He had come to bat after former India U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull was out lbw by Rahul Sharma.
