India’s Test stars, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill failed to make much of an impact during their return to Ranji Trophy cricket. The trio were expected to make a big impact on their return to domestic cricket but failed to do so as they were dismissed cheaply in their respective matches on Thursday.

Gill, who has been batting at number three for the Indian Test team, partnered with Prabhsimran Singh instead to open the innings for Punjab in their ongoing clash against Karnataka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. But his innings were shortlived as he edged one to the keeper to be out on just four runs off eight deliveries.

India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja also had an anti-climatic start to his return to first-class cricket. Representing Saurashtra who are taking on Delhi at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the left-arm spinner was hammered for nine runs in his first over by Delhi’s Yash Dhull

But the all-rounder managed to redeem himself with two wickets in his kitty. Delhi’s Rishabh Pant, however, had contrasting fortunes as he was dismissed after just scoring one run off 10 deliveries.
