ndia posted a comfortable 47-run win over Afghanistan at Bridgetown’s Kensington Oval in their first Super 8 match in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on Thursday. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, India’s top order failed miserably as Afghan bowlers remained consistent with their discipline efforts. However, Suryakumar Yadav (53) and Hardik Pandya (32) lifted India to a competitive total of 181/8. In reply, though Afghanistan started off on a strong note, they faltered quickly courtesy Jasprit Bumrah’s terrific bowling. Once Bumrah got the breakthrough wicket, Indian bowlers never let Afghanistan recover. Both Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked up 3 wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav, who had replaced Md Siraj in today’s Playing XI also scalped 2 wickets.
