Uttarakhand Avalanche: Bodies of last 4 missing persons found; rescue operation ends, toll reaches 8

Sad news has emerged from the Uttarakhand avalanche tragedy. The bodies of the last four labourers, who were trapped at the site of the avalanche-hit Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp in Chamoli, have been recovered by the rescue team on Sunday. The nearly 60-hour rescue operation has ended, with the death toll reaching eight.

According to Commander IBEX Brigade Brigadier MS Dhillon, eight people died after a BRO camp in Mana was hit by a massive avalanche.

In a video, Brigadier Dhillon said 46 people had been rescued and were in various stages of treatment.

“On 28th February, early morning, a BRO camp in Mana was struck by an avalanche. The Indian army immediately swung into action and mounted a search and rescue operation,” he said.
