CBI Raids Bhagwant Mann In Corruption Case; He Claims ‘Misuse Of Agencies’

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday registered a corruption case involving an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other senior officers, and conducted searches at three premises linked to the Punjab chief minister across the state.

The searches included Mann’s “camp office” at Kothi No 50 in Mohali, the native village of his OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman at Gharcho in Sangrur, and another location in Chandigarh, according to officials. Raids are also being conducted in Kharar where bag full of cash was thrown from a flat previously during the ED raids in a dramatic visual in the month of may. So far, in total four locations are being raided by the agencies against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.

The CBI action followed directions from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which ordered the federal agency to conduct the probe.

The High Court directed the CBI to investigate the matter after noting that material shared by the Enforcement Directorate prima facie indicated the involvement of the OSD and other senior officers in acts of corruption.
