Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh found himself at the centre of a row on Sunday as a video clip circulated on social media showed him slapping a youth during inspection of road repair work in Vikaspuri area of West Delhi.

Sharing the video clip on X, AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar, Jarnail Singh, said in his post: “He had come to inspect the road, but upon seeing scam after scam being exposed, he lost his cool and ended up indulging in thuggery (goondagardi) with my colleague who was recording the video.”

Parvesh Sahib Singh, too, shared a video on X later in which he alleged that AAP workers had abused his family. “Listen to the full truth behind today’s incident… but what happened should not have happened,” he said in his post.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon. The video clip shows Jarnail Singh, accompanied by some supporters, complaining to the minister about the condition of a newly constructed road in the area. A youth who is recording the events on a cellphone is slapped by the minister, who is accompanied by security personnel. As protests erupt, Parvesh Sahib Singh is driven away.

The youth was later identified as Sahib Singh, 22. “I was doing a live video recording of the minister’s inspection on the directions of MLA Jarnail Singh,” he told The Indian Express. He said he was pursuing his graduation and has been associated with Jarnail Singh’s social media team for the past four years. “I never abused anyone, including the minister. You can clearly hear the entire conversation in the live video that I was recording on the Instagram account of Jarnail Singh,” he said.
