Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to lead mega Yamuna cleanliness Drive on 14th June

The Delhi government will launch a mega cleanliness and public awareness campaign along the Yamuna on June 14, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta set to lead the initiative, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

The campaign, aimed at promoting public participation in the effort to rejuvenate the river, will be held across several ghats along the Yamuna in the national capital.

The chief minister will personally take part in the drive and join citizens in reinforcing the collective commitment to restoring the river’s health and cleanliness, the CMO said on Sunday.

Gupta, while emphasising the importance of community involvement, said a clean, pristine and free-flowing Yamuna can only be achieved through active participation from the public.

She described the river as an integral part of Delhi’s cultural, religious and environmental heritage, adding that protecting it is a shared responsibility of both the government and citizens.

The June 14 campaign is expected to witness the participation of nearly 500 social, religious, educational and voluntary organisations, along with thousands of volunteers from across the city.
