Delhi CM praises Union Budget, calls it next-generation budget

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday hailed the Union Budget 2026-27, describing it as a “development-oriented and inclusive” roadmap that strengthens India’s march towards a self-reliant and prosperous future while giving a significant boost to the National Capital’s growth.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, saying the Budget inspires confidence across all sections of society and opens new opportunities for a metropolis like Delhi. She also thanked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a balanced and forward-looking Budget aligned with the needs of ordinary citizens, and expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his continued support on matters of Delhi’s security and administration.

Gupta described the Budget’s core philosophy as resting on three pillars – accelerating economic growth, empowering citizens through greater opportunities and realising the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. She said the Budget prioritises youth, women, poor and the middle class while ensuring equitable development across regions.

Highlighting Centre-Delhi coordination, she said continuous dialogue between the two governments had ensured that Delhi’s priorities were reflected in the Budget, particularly in sectors such as roads, water, transport, health, employment and security.
