Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled what organisers describe as the world’s tallest statue of Lord Ram, a 77-feet bronze structure crafted by celebrated sculptor Ram Sutar, at the historic Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in South Goa.
At the 550th-year celebration of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined nine key appeals: conserve water, plant more trees, commit to cleanliness, promote and adopt Swadeshi products, engage in “Desh Darshan” by exploring and understanding different parts of India, incorporate natural farming practices, follow a healthier lifestyle by increasing millet consumption and reducing oil intake by 10%, include yoga and sports in daily life, and extend help to the poor in any possible way—describing them as resolutions essential for realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat. He stressed that protecting the environment and adopting responsible habits are central to national progress.
He also released a commemorative coin and a special postal stamp marking the 550th year of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt during celebrations in South Goa.
Prime Minister Modi, while addressing a gathering in Goa during the unveiling ceremony, said that just days after he unfurled a sacred flag atop Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, it was a matter of immense happiness for him to have the opportunity to unveil the world’s tallest Lord Ram statue.
