Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a new portal developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), BHARATPOL, on the lines of the INTERPOL. Shah said the move will help nab criminals who flee abroad.
The new portal will aid all probe agencies in addressing crimes involving border areas and other nations.
He said, “This is the beginning of taking our country’s international investigation into a new era. With the help of BHARATPOL, police will be able to connect itself with Interpol very easily and speed up the investigation.”
“Our new criminal law and its provision of trial in abstention will ensure they are tried in Indian courts. Once they are convicted by Indian court. It will be easier to get them deported or extradited,” he added.
The central probe agency has designed the new cutting-edge online platform that will allow police forces of states and Union Territories and central agencies to seamlessly send their requests seeking information from Interpol on fugitives holed abroad or other affairs, officials said.
