Delhi sees highest temperature of the year, 4 degrees above normal

Delhi on Wednesday experienced its highest temperature of the year so far, reaching 37 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees above the usual maximum temperature. This marked a significant increase from the previous day’s

34.6 degrees Celsius and surpassed last year’s highest March temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest March day in two years. The minimum temperature also rose to 21.2 degrees Celsius, exceeding the normal by 3 degrees and marking the

highest minimum temperature of the year. The previous day had seen a minimum of 17.7 degrees Celsius, the second highest of the year.

Some areas, including Safdarjung, Palam, and Ridge, experienced slight rainfall on Thursday, attributed to a western disturbance. Another western disturbance is expected around March 29, possibly bringing more rain,

although it is unlikely to significantly affect the daytime temperatures, an India Meteorological Department official said.

The weather department forecasts very light rain on Friday, and Saturday for Delhi, with temperatures ranging from 37 to 19 degrees Celsius for maximum and minimum temperatures on Thursday.
