Delhi Traffic Police said that they are making necessary arrangements, especially from 7:30pm to 9:30pm when most processions pass the streets. Meetings have been held with owners of banquet halls, wedding venues and farmhouses as well as hotel officials. Stringent action will be taken if anyone is found flouting norms and bursting crackers
A traffic official said that the season begins Thursday and multiple weddings will take place. At some places like Mayapuri, Chattarpur, Punjabi Bagh and GT Karnal Road, the venues are adjoining each other. So, it’s important to ensure the baraat procession and other ceremonies don’t take up road space. Localities around the venues will be manned by traffic personnel, he added.
The official further pointed out that the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, a major arterial stretch that has multiple wedding venues around it, will have more than a dozen traffic marshals deployed. Cranes will be kept ready to tow any vehicles parked on the roadside.
