DJB Has Become a Den Of Corruption, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Demands Judicial Enquiry

Manoj Tiwari, MP today accused that Delhi Jal Board has become synonymous with corruption and requires a judicial inquiry.

Past President said that the objective of the establishment of Delhi Jal Board in 1998 was that this board would prepare its own basic infrastructure and would meet its expenses from its own revenue. Delhi government will provide financial resources only for big plan head schemes.

It is a matter of regret that from 1999 to 2013, the Congress government of Smt. Sheela Dixit exploited the resources of DJB as a result of which a liability of Rs 20 thousand crores has arisen.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which came to power in 2015, showed the dream of providing tap water to 14 lakh houses and then in 2020 showed the dream of providing water to every house but did not do anything to increase the water availability of Delhi.

850 MGD was available in Delhi in 2013-14, new 100 MGD was added through a plant in Okhla in 2014 during President’s rule. Total 950 MGD water became available in 2014.

Tiwari said that the proof of how the Kejriwal government, which has shown the dream of providing water to every house, has deceived the public. Today 1350 MGD water is needed in Delhi while the availability is only 950 MGD.

Parliamentarian said that in the last 5 financial years, Delhi Government has given loans and grants worth Rs 12,700 crore to Delhi Jal Board, but there is no accounting of this money. Whenever the Finance Department asks for accounts, the AAP government started playing the victim card.

What can be a bigger proof of manipulation in any organization than the fact that its accounts are not written for 6 financial years as is happening in Delhi Jal Board. Since 2016-17, neither accounts of Delhi Jal Board have been prepared nor any audit has been done. Due to this manipulation, the loss of Delhi Jal Board which was Rs 26 thousand crore on March 31, 2018, has been estimated at Rs 70 thousand crore on March 31, 2023.
