AAP govt wants power but evades responsibility : Virendra Sachdeva

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has said that it is shocking to see that CM Arvind Kejriwal government is least serious on the cleaning of Najafgarh drain which is one of the biggest cause of polluting the river Yamuna in Delhi.

During last 9 years Kejriwal government did nothing for cleaning of Najafgarh drain despite making a budgetary allocation of Rs. 705 crores forcing the National Green Tribunal to make an order asking the Lt. Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena to chair a committee on Najafgarh drain & Yamuna cleaning.

Soon After NGT’s order the Lt. Governor vigorously took over the task of Najafgarh drain cleaning & change was getting visible but Arvind Kejriwal government went to Supreme Court and got the NGT order of setting up a committee under the chairmanship of the Lt. Governor set aside.

Sachdeva has said thereafter ever since July 2023 the Najafgarh drain cleaning work has come to a standstill and now untreated Najafgarh drain falls into Yamuna near Signature Bridge.

Delhi BJP President has said that the Najafgarh drain cleaning project has got stuck as Kejriwal Government fought legal battle for chairing its cleaning committee but has stopped work on it after getting the chairmanship.
