If you or someone you know stores money in a bank locker, it’s essential to be aware of potential risks, as recent incidents highlight the importance of caution. In a startling event that occurred in Uttar Pradesh, approximately Rs 18 lakh, securely kept in a bank locker, was unexpectedly destroyed. This incident unfolded in Moradabad district.

A woman named Alka Pathak had stored Rs 18 lakh in cash, along with some jewelry, in the bank locker for nearly a year and a half in preparation for her daughter’s wedding. However, this money fell victim to termite infestation, which she discovered during the bank’s annual locker maintenance and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process.

Upon opening the locker, Alka was shocked to find that the banknotes had suffered irreparable damage due to termites. She promptly reported the issue to the bank’s branch manager, who responded with immediate concern and initiated appropriate actions.
