G20 Summit 2023: New Delhi Declaration will ensure no one is left behind globally, says S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India consciously chose to make this G20 forum as inclusive as possible under its presidency. His comments came against the back drop of the 55-member African Union (AU) being admitted to G20 — a group of the world’s top economies

We have consciously sought to make this G20 as inclusive and broad-based as possible. It is a matter of particular satisfaction for us that the African Union this morning has become the permanent member of G20, under India’s presidency,” he said at a press conference at the G20 Summit in New Delhi on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar was seen escorting Azali Assoumani, the President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union (AU), to his seat at the G20 high table following the bloc’s admission into G20.

‘G20 making India world ready and the world India ready’

Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, said India’s has been the most ambitious presidency in the history of the bloc that came into existence in 1999.
