Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the national capital and its neighbouring cities, including Noida
and Ghaziabad, leading to waterlogging on roads on Wednesday.
Parts of the city such as ITO got waterlogged causing traffic snarls and hinderance in traffic
movement.
The Yamuna River in the national capital still flows just a few centimetres below the danger mark.
At 10pm Tuesday, the Yamuna water level near the old Yamuna Bridge was recorded at 205.24
metres against the danger mark of of 205.33 metres. It was 205.32 metres at 7pm. The rise in water
level has been a matter of concern, leading to a flood-like situation in the national capital and
adjoining regions.
The river water level had been hovering around the danger mark of 205.33 metres for the last few
days after reaching an all-time high of 208.66 metres on July 13.
The city’s weather on Tuesday remained uneven with some areas experiencing high-intensity rain
while others having an overcast sky.
The India Meteorological Department expects moderate rain in the region till Friday and has issued a
yellow alert.
The monsoon line of trough is currently over Rajasthan and is shifting towards Delhi-NCR.
There is also an active western disturbance, creating favourable conditions for widespread or
sporadic light to moderate rain over parts of Delhi-NCR.
