Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced a significant achievement. The Solapur-Bijapur section of National Highway-13, a four-lane road connecting Solapur in Maharashtra and Bijapur in Karnataka, has been successfully developed. This project has set a remarkable record for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).Covering a distance of 109 km, the project involved the construction of four major bridges, 35 minor bridges, six interchanges or flyovers, two rail-over bridges, 10 vehicular underpasses, and a 21-km-long Solapur Bypass.The Union Minister proudly revealed that this cutting-edge infrastructure has gained recognition in both the ‘Limca Book of Records’ and the ‘Asia Book of Records’ for the remarkable accomplishment of laying 26.82 km of bituminous concrete in just 20 hours.
