PM Modi completes 25 years as head of govt, pitches ‘we will do it’ mantra for Viksit Bharat by 2047

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 25 years of continuous service as the head of a government, reflecting on his political journey from becoming Gujarat chief minister in 2001 to serving as Prime Minister since 2014, and said his resolve for the country remains unchanged: “We will do it.”

Addressing the ‘Seva Jyoti’ programme at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, Modi said he had never imagined when he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, that he would reach the milestone of completing 25 years at the helm of a government.

“I express my gratitude to all of you and to all my fellow countrymen. When I took the oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001, I never imagined that this milestone would also come,” Modi said.

Giving a call for continued national effort, the Prime Minister said the enthusiasm required to take India to new heights conveyed one message — “We will do it.”
