The Delhi Government on Tuesday flagged off four ‘Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra Vans’ from the Delhi Secretariat to take registration, renewal and other labour welfare services directly to workers at construction sites, labour chowks and other workplaces across the city.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who flagged off the vans under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, said the initiative was aimed at reducing workers’ repeated visits to government offices and preventing loss of daily wages. The government plans to eventually deploy one mobile van in each of Delhi’s 13 districts.

“Workers are the foundation of Delhi’s development. Now, services will reach their doorstep instead of them having to visit offices,” Gupta said.

The mobile centres will provide on-the-spot registration and renewal facilities, assistance with documentation, digital services and information about various government welfare schemes. Workers will also be guided through the application process and documents required to avail themselves of benefits.

The initiative is particularly aimed at workers who find it difficult to take time off work and travel to government offices.
