Stock Market: Sensex closed at 777.94 pts, Nifty slips to 23,118.60 as Crude, Fed fears drag markets into red

Sensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Highlights -Equity benchmarks shed over 1% on Tuesday. BSE Sensex closed 777.94 pts or 1.04% lower at 74,003.82, and Nifty 50 shed 279.50 pts or 1.19% to 23,118.60. Broader markets – midcap and smallcap indices – also lagged behind.

Indian shares fell on Tuesday on concerns over elevated oil prices and global bond yields ahead of this week’s Federal ‌Reserve meeting, while gains in IT and the country’s largest private lender, HDFC Bank, limited losses.

The 50-stock index ‌briefly fell about 2.2% during the closing auction session (CAS), ‌extending ⁠losses of 0.96% after the end of continuous ⁠trading at 3:15 p.m. IST.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, jumped 1.89 per cent to $107.7 per barrel.

The rupee depreciated 38 paise to close at 95.92 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by escalating Middle East conflict and soaring Brent crude oil prices

The Sensex had opened the session at 75,369.63 against a previous close of 74,781.76, while the Nifty opened at 23,576.15 against a previous close of 23,398.10, both indices gapping up before retreating sharply through the morning session.

CARE Ratings also recognised Navi’s scalable, technology-led business model and integrated financial services ecosystem spanning lending (through Navi Finserv Limited), UPI, insurance and asset management.

Navi Finserv’s profitability has strengthened considerably over the past few quarters. Profit after tax increased from ₹75 crore in Q3FY26 to ₹135 crore in Q4FY26 and further to ₹199 crore in Q1FY27. At the consolidated level, Navi Limited achieved profit before tax break even in Q4FY26 and reported ₹104 crore in PBT in Q1FY27.
