With the BRICS Summit approaching, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has divided 41 major roads into 14 circles and drawn up a 24×7 civic monitoring and sanitation plan to ensure that the Capital’s core area remains clean, green and well-maintained during the international event.

The civic body had also identified 15 locations for floral boards, nine for flower fountains, and 17 roundabouts for special beautification and decorative illumination, NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said after reviewing the council’s preparations on Monday.

“As many as 41 major roads have been identified and divided into 14 circles, with a dedicated nodal officer for each circle. The officers, along with their field teams, will undertake daily inspections to ensure compliance with the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs),” Dwivedi added. 

The NDMC has planned round-the-clock sanitation arrangements, including additional sanitation staff and special night-duty teams from September 9 to 14. Mechanical road sweepers, gobblers, push-back manual sweepers, ride-on sweepers and scrubbers will be deployed for intensive cleaning.

Temporary dustbins and mobile toilets will also be installed, while measures will be taken to remove stray animals from the identified areas.
