Delhi Assembly forms House Committees for 2026-27

The Delhi Legislative Assembly has formed its House Committees for the legislative year 2026-27, with Speaker Vijender Gupta saying the panels will strengthen legislative scrutiny, accountability and public welfare oversight.

Announcing the committees on Thursday, Gupta said they would examine government functioning, review policies and address issues affecting residents of the national capital.

He congratulated the chairpersons and members, saying their experience and expertise would help improve legislative deliberations.

The Speaker will head key panels, including the Business Advisory Committee, Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions, Rules Committee, General Purposes Committee and Library Committee. Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht will chair committees such as the Government Assurances Committee, Questions and References Committee, and Peace and Harmony Committee.

MLA Poonam Sharma has been appointed chairperson of the Committee on Women and Child Welfare, while Aahir Deepak Chaudhry will lead the Committee on Welfare of Students and Youth. MLA Anil Kumar Sharma will chair the Environment Committee. The Assembly has also set up department-related standing committees for sectors including education, health, welfare, development, public utilities, finance and transport.
