‘J & K was, is, and will always remain’ part of India: New Delhi hits back at Pakistan at UN

India delivered a pointed rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday, rejecting Islamabad’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and accusing it of repeatedly using international forums to advance what New Delhi described as misleading narratives.

The exchange unfolded during deliberations on the Annual Report of the UN Security Council, where India also renewed its call for reforms aimed at making the body more reflective of contemporary global realities.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, responded after Pakistan’s envoy raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during the session.

Addressing the General Assembly, Harish said Pakistan had once again attempted to use an international platform to advance its political objectives.

“The unwarranted reference by Pakistan to a matter strictly internal to India, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has compelled me to respond,” the Indian envoy said.

He further alleged that Pakistan had misused its membership of the Security Council by circulating what India described as inaccurate communications.
