CM takes Metro, bus to Delhi Secretariat

Continuing her government’s push for sustainable urban mobility, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday travelled from her residence to the Delhi Secretariat using the Metro and a DTC bus under the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative. This marks the second consecutive week of her public transport commute campaign aimed at encouraging citizens to reduce dependence on private vehicles.

During the journey, the Chief Minister interacted with commuters and appealed to residents to adopt public transport as part of their weekly routine. She said public participation is essential for reducing fuel consumption, controlling pollution and easing traffic congestion in the national capital.

Highlighting the broader objective behind the initiative, the Chief Minister said the Delhi Government’s ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ campaign, launched in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, seeks to motivate citizens to use public transport at least once a week and transform fuel conservation and environmental protection into a people’s movement.

“Government is not just making policies, but leading by example,” CM Rekha Gupta said while emphasising that public representatives are also choosing public transport to inspire citizens through action.
