Delhi Airport Disrupted After Sudden Rain, Hail: List Of Flights Cancelled And Diverted

Rain, thunderstorms and hailstorms lashed parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region leading to major disruption in flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and forcing multiple cancellations and diversions. At least nine flights bound for Delhi were diverted to Jaipur after adverse weather conditions made landing unsafe.

The affected flights included IndiGo services such as IX 5256, 6E 851, 6E 710, 6E 6613, 3U 9651, 6E 6183 and 6E 698, along with Air India flights AI 2890 and AI 2910. Strong winds, lightning and reduced visibility led to temporary operational disruptions, prompting air traffic control to divert incoming aircraft to safer alternate airports.

Low-cost carrier IndiGo issued a travel advisory warning passengers of delays and extended waiting times due to the weather conditions.

“Due to adverse weather conditions in Delhi, flight operations are impacted. We understand that extended wait times, both on the ground and onboard, may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience,” the airline said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). It added that ground and cabin crew were assisting passengers to manage delays and ensure comfort during the disruption.
