After a historic moment in the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner took to social media to celebrate his long-time friend and the team’s legendary spinner.

Sunil Narine etched his name into the record books during KKR’s commanding seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) this Sunday. By picking up two wickets, Narine became the first bowler in IPL history to claim 200 wickets while representing a single franchise. He also joined an elite group as only the third bowler ever to reach the 200-wicket mark in the tournament, alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Notably, he is the first overseas player to achieve this feat.

Narine’s performance of 2/31 was pivotal in shifting the momentum of the game. After SRH got off to a flying start, scoring 71/1 in the Powerplay behind Travis Head’s 61 off 28 balls, it was Narine and Varun Chakravarthy who tightened the screws. Narine claimed the important wicket of Ishan Kishan, who had contributed 42 runs, helping trigger a collapse that saw SRH bowled out for 165.
