Anne Hathaway Says Work Is Already on for The Princess Diaries 3

Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway confirms that The Princess Diaries 3 script is actively in progress and will soon make its way to the big screen, stating that she is 100 per cent ready to return as Mia Thermopolis.

Anne Hathaway gained immense popularity for her role in The Princess Diaries, directed by Gary Marshall, which was a massive commercial success, collecting over $300.6 million worldwide across two films. This film follows the story of a socially awkward teenager who discovers that she is the sole heir to the throne of the fictional European kingdom of Genovia. The film’s huge success paved the way to a sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, in 2004.

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Anne Hathaway also revealed why she couldn’t focus on the third part of The Princess Diaries, stating that the space and time were surprisingly taken over by The Devil Wears Prada 2. The actress further opened up about the increasing workload, saying, “It became impossible to focus on both at the same time.”

However, Anne Hathaway stated that The Princess Diaries 3 remains a priority, saying, “The intention is to make Princess Diaries hopefully next.” Although the film has not been officially approved yet. The actress recently shared an update on the story, mentioning that she is currently “chipping away at the script”, while working with her collaborators.
