Legendary Playback Singer Asha Bhosle Passes Away At 92, Last Rites Today

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital following a cardiac arrest, has died at the age of 92. On April 11, the iconic singer suffered a cardiac arrest following which she was taken to the emergency unit of the hospital, where she passed away. Minister of Cultural Affairs of Maharashtra Ashish Shelar announced the grim news. Her mortal remains will be kept at her residence from 11 am to 3 pm tomorrow, and the last rites will take place at Shivaji Park at 4 pm.

Asha Bhosle was one of the most legendary playback singers of the Indian music industry, and her demise came as a huge loss to the industry. Born on September 8, 1933, Asha began her career at a very young age, and throughout her career, she had given her voice to thousands of songs in multiple languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati.

As concern grew online, Zanai Bhosle took to social media to share an official update and request privacy for the family. She posted a picture with Asha Bhosle and wrote, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection has been admitted to hospital and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully everything will be well and we shall update you positively.”
