Israel-Iran war: US.Announces To Block Hormuz Today

President Donald Trump said on Sunday (April 12, 2026) he does not care if Iran comes back to negotiations with the United States after talks in Pakistan failed to produce a deal.

The U.S. military said it will blockade all Iranian Gulf ports on Monday (April 13, 2026) at 2 p.m. GMT (7:30 p.m. IST), effectively seizing control of maritime traffic in the critical Strait of Hormuz, the strategic waterway responsible for distribution of a fifth of the global oil supply.

The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” U.S. Central Command said in a post on X, adding the U.S. would “not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports”.

Iran’s Parliament speaker, who led peace talks with the United States in Pakistan, said his country would not give in after Trump’s earlier threats to blockade the strait.
