Days after celebrating 100 years of its establishment in 1926, the Delhi Race Club was slapped with a notice for eviction within 15 days by the Land and Development Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on March 12, 2026.
From being a part of Delhi’s sporting heritage, Delhi Race Club is now in a battle for its existence. After being served a sudden notice for eviction in 15 days by the Land and Development office, the Club authorities are in shock and despair.
The Delhi Race Club filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to secure its ownership over 53.4 acres of land sharing its vicinity with the Prime Minister’s Residence and Air Force Station.
In a significant development on Thursday, the Delhi High Court granted interim relief to the Delhi Race Club in the ongoing eviction dispute, after the government assured the court that it would not dispossess the club without following due process of law.
