Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects valued at around ₹33,500 crore in the national capital, aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, improving connectivity and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the initiatives mark a major step toward building a modern and developed Delhi. According to him, the projects cover several sectors including the expansion of the Delhi Metro network and the construction of modern residential complexes for thousands of government employees.
He stated that strengthening infrastructure in the capital is vital because the growth of Delhi reflects the progress and global image of the entire country. Modi noted that the newly inaugurated metro section will significantly ease daily travel for large numbers of commuters, particularly residents of East and North-East Delhi.
Highlighting public transport improvements, the Prime Minister said thousands of electric buses have already been deployed in the city with support from the central government. He added that several new buses, including specially designed “Devi Buses,” have been introduced to improve last-mile connectivity across neighbourhoods.
