Delhi CM launches Rs 2,100-cr DJB projects

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday laid the foundation stones for several Delhi Jal Board projects worth over Rs 2,100 crore at Ramlila Maidan, Todapur, West Delhi. The projects aim to strengthen water supply, expand sewerage networks, improve connectivity and address decades-old water and sanitation issues across the Capital.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta said, “Ensuring clean drinking water and developing a modern sewerage system are among the government’s priorities. Areas facing water and sewerage problems for many years will now receive permanent solutions.” She emphasised timely completion and high-quality standards so that citizens can benefit at the earliest.

PWD and Water Minister Pravesh Verma said Delhi was entering a new phase of development. “These projects are not merely announcements but woud lay a strong foundation for a ‘Viksit Delhi’ in line with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. We are making water and sewer services modern, robust and efficient to meet citizens’ needs,” he said.

The event was attended by New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Rajendra Nagar MLA Umang Bajaj, senior officials and local residents. The Chief Minister announced that the Delhi Jal Board’s Amnesty Scheme would be extended till August and would include commercial consumers.
