PM Modi gets hero’s welcome at NDA Parliamentary meet after India-US trade deal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with applause and accolades at the NDA parliamentary meeting on Tuesday following a landmark trade agreement between India and the US.

After a phone call with Prime Minister Modi, President Donald Trump announced that India and the US agreed to a trade deal under which Washington will bring down reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods to 18 per cent from the current 25 per cent.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, highlighted that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has successfully signed major trade deals with the European Union (EU), the United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and now the US.

“This is no ordinary achievement. India’s recognition and stature have grown globally, and this reflects the trust so many countries have in India through these trade agreements. This will strongly propel the country’s economy forward,” he said.

Following the announcement of the trade agreement, Prime Minister Modi described the development as a major boost for Indian exporters and thanked the US leader for the decision.

He said cooperation between two of the world’s largest democracies and economies would unlock significant opportunities and benefit people in both countries.
