Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day and will reconvene on Wednesday (February 4, 2026)
Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day after eight MPs suspended with the Opposition continuing their protest as the House heard ongoing Motions for election to committees. Meanwhile, in the Upper House, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha J.P. Nadda slammed the Opposition for its “methodology”, and said the government will come forward with all minute details of the trade deal today.
Seven Congress members and a CPI(M) MP were suspended from Lok Sabha for the remaining Budget session for throwing bits of papers on the Chair. The opposition members resorted to protest after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s speech was cut short and a TDP member was asked to speak on the motion.
Addressing the media outside the Parliament, Mr. Gandhi accused the Modi government of bowing to the pressure of the US.
A major political row erupted on Monday (February 2, 2026) as Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sought to quote in the Lok Sabha from an unpublished “memoir” of former Army chief Naravane on the 2020 India-China conflict to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, evoking a backlash from BJP leaders who accused him of misleading the House and belittling the armed forces.
