Air India may soon get a new CEO as Tata Sons has begun looking at a possible leadership change at its airline business, reported The Economic Times. The report said the group has held talks with senior leaders from major international airlines as it reviews its top management structure.
Group chairman N Chandrasekaran has spoken with chief executives of at least two large airlines based in the UK and the US, people mentioned in the report said.
These discussions are said to be part of a wider search for possible successors to current Air India CEO Campbell Wilson.
While Wilson’s current term runs until June 2027, the airline could see a leadership change before that, the report said.
Similar reviews are also under way at Air India Express. The Economic Times reported that the tenure of its CEO, Aloke Singh, is also set to end in 2027, and Tata Sons is assessing leadership needs across all its airline businesses.
People aware of the discussions said Chandrasekaran has held regular performance review meetings with Wilson in recent months. Tata Sons declined to comment on the matter.
