The ruling Mahayuti won 207 municipal councils and nagar panchayat seats of the 288 that went to polls in Maharashtra, securing a single largest majority, according to data from the State Election Commission.
The BJP won most of them, securing 117 seats, the Shiv Sena 53 and the NCP 37 seats. On the other hand, the Congress won 28 seats, the Shiv Sena (UBT) in nine and the NCP-SP in seven seats. As a coalition, the Mahavikas Agadi won 44 constituencies. Other registered parties but not from Maharashtra secured four civic bodies , candidates from unrecognised parties won 28 seats and five seats were secured by independents.
District-wise, the BJP won the largest number of local bodies in Nagpur, securing 22 municipal councils and nagar panchayats followed by the NCP, which won in 10 seats in Pune. Apart from these two, no other party won more than seven seats in a district. The Shiv Sena won the most number of constituencies (six seats) among the ones it contested in Jalgoan district.
The Congress won most number of seats in Chandrapur district, securing seven constituencies.
