Swaraj Kaushal dies: Bansuri Swaraj’s emotional post for father ‘Reunited with mother’

Following the demise of Swaraj Kaushal, former Mizoram governor and senior advocate Thursday, his daughter and New Delhi BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj shared an emotional post on X, saying her father’s affection, discipline, simplicity, patriotism and immense patience were light of her life which would never diminish.

“Your departure has descended upon us as the deepest pain in the heart yet the mind holds on the belief that you are now reunited with mother, in the presence of the almighty and eternal peace. Being your daughter is the greatest pride of my life and your legacy, values and blessings will be the bases of my journeys ahead,” the first-time MP wrote in Hindi.

After Kaushal complained of chest pain Thursday afternoon, he was rushed to AIIMS where doctors declared him dead, a BJP leader said. Kaushal will be cremated at Lodhi Road crematorium, the leader added.

Kaushal, a socialist, had several feathers in his cap, though he generally avoided the limelight. He was designated as a senior advocate in the Supreme Court at just 34, and became the youngest person to hold the post of governor when he was made the governor of Mizoram at just 37 in 1990, and stayed in the post till 1993.
