Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a six-lane flyover between Nand Nagri and Gagan Cinema in East Delhi on Sunday, providing a signal-free corridor at one of the busiest junctions in the Trans-Yamuna region.
Built by the Public Works Department (PWD) at a cost of approximately Rs 180 crore, officials stated that the flyover is expected to carry over one lakh vehicles daily and save an average of 14 minutes per vehicle—reducing travel time, fuel consumption, and emissions.
“This long-delayed and incomplete flyover has today been dedicated to the public, which in itself is historic. Our government’s aim is that the benefits of development should not remain limited to urban areas but also empower and enrich Yamuna Par region and rural areas equally,” Gupta said.
The flyover stretches 1,550 metres in length and 22 metres in width. It will ensure better vehicular flow between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, the flyover will not only reduce travel time but also result in major savings of fuel. The project will also deliver significant environmental benefits, including a reduction in carbon emissions from the very first year, officials added.
