Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said on Wednesday that Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will regularise over 3,500 sanitation workers in a phased manner in the coming days. Along with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, he handed over regularisation letters to 310 sanitation workers at the civic centre.
“Our goal is that no employee of the MCD remains temporary. Until every sanitation worker is granted permanent status, this process will continue,” Mr. Singh said.
Calling sanitation workers the “backbone of the Corporation,” Mr. Sachdeva said the move will not only provide employment stability but also ensure healthcare facilities, social security, and dignity for their families. “It is the firm resolve of the BJP government and the Corporation that sanitation workers receive their due rights and entitlements,” he added.
Mr. Singh further said that the MCD is working in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission and the BJP’s organisational work culture.
