A red alert remains active for Mumbai with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rain in the Maharashtra capital on Monday. The weather department had already issued an orange rain alert for Mumbai and neighbouring regions for Monday.’
As per the latest IMD nowcast, a red alert remains active for extremely heavy rainfall in Mumbai. As per this warning – ‘Intense to very intense spells of rain & thunderstorm accompanied with lightning with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph very likely” in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban.
Meanwhile, the rain alerts have been downgraded from red to orange for Thane and Raigad.
With this, an orange alert remains active for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune and Ahmednagar. Meanwhile, the rest of the state remains on a yellow rain alert and light drizzle.
