The weekend box office saw a spirited clash between two much-anticipated Bollywood films, Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2. While Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s Son of Sardaar 2 made a strong start, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2 is steadily picking up pace.
Released on Friday, August 1, Son of Sardaar 2 has managed to earn an impressive 14.75 Rs crore over its first two days. The film collected 7.5 crore Rs on both Friday and Saturday, maintaining a solid hold at the box office. Audiences have responded positively to its mix of comedy, action, and nostalgia.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film marks the return of Ajay Devgn in his beloved comic-action avatar. It continues to draw footfalls despite sharing screens with other big releases like Saiyaara and Dhadak 2. With Sunday expected to bring in more families and moviegoers, the film is on track for a strong opening weekend.
Meanwhile, Dhadak 2, which is a follow-up to the 2018 romantic drama, opened with 3.5 crore Rs on Friday and grew slightly to 3.75 crore Rs on Saturday, taking its two-day total to 7.25 Rs crore. The film is a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal and explores themes of caste and social justice.
