The much-anticipated romance drama Dhadak 2, featuring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles, is set to release in theatres on August 1. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is produced by Karan Johar, who announced the release date today captioning the post as, “If you have to choose between death and fight, it is better to fight.” This sets the tone for what the audience can expect from the film.
A spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, this new chapter brings a fresh cast and storyline to the screen. The film follows the love story of Vidhi played by Triptii and Nilesh played by Siddhant, two young people from different castes whose relationship faces resistance and are bound by the shackles of the rigid society.
Dhadak 2 is inspired by the critically acclaimed 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj. While the original Dhadak—which starred Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor—was a remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat, this new version continues to explore themes of love, caste, and societal opposition.
