The Delhi BJP has raised questions about former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s income, demanding clarification over a significant increase in his earnings in recent years. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva pointed out “discrepancies” in Kejriwal’s income tax filings — including a 40-fold increase in 2020-21 and a 6-fold rise in 2023-24 — despite his claims of his MLA salary being his sole source of income.
Sachdeva said, according to Kejriwal’s income tax returns, his declared income for 2020-21 was Rs 44,90,040, a stark contrast to the Rs 1,57,823 he reported in 2019-20.
This sudden surge in earnings during the COVID-19 pandemic, when global incomes were severely impacted, raised eyebrows, he added.
