Rishabh Pant’s resistance was ended by Scott Boland early in the third session after which the pacer rattled India by dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy the very next ball. India’s run rate dipped below two runs an over around the halfway mark of the second session as Pant and Ravindra Jadeja ground it out against the relentless Australian fast bowling attack. The pair had scored just nine runs in 60 balls for the fifth wicket. Jadeja walked into the middle after Virat Kohli fell for the umpteenth time fending outside off stump. India lost openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first session after which Shubman Gill and Kohli seemed set to see India through to Lunch. However, Gill seemed to have been distracted by his own gamesmanship as he fell to Nathan Lyon off the last ball of the session after battling it out for 64 balls and scoring 20 runs.
Rishabh Pant took multiple blows throughout the second session and survived till Tea, but not for long after that. Pant was batting on 40 off 98 balls when he fell to Scott Boland. That ended a 48-run stand between him and Jadeja which came in 151 balls. Boland then rattled India by sending back Nitish Kumar Reddy for a golden duck next ball.
