Delhi BJP again President targets AAP over CM’s residence renovation

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday alleged that with the public money used by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to renovate his 6 Flagstaff Road official bungalow when he held the chief minister’s post, houses for poor could have been constructed.

“The funds spent on the lavish lighting and bathroom fittings of the palace [official bungalow] could have been used to build 34 DDA EWS flats, 15 LIG flats, 150 CNG autos, or 326 e-rickshaws for employment,” Mr. Sachdeva alleged while holding a BJP poll campaign on “scams by AAP government”.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is not under the Delhi government. Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena is the authority’s chairperson.

Mr. Kejriwal, after stepping down as Delhi Chief Minister, vacated the bungalow in October this year. The BJP has alleged irregularities in the reconstruction of the bungalow and claimed that exorbitantly expensive household goods were used there.

West Delhi BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said prior to 2014, the metro network in India was limited to 248 km, but by 2024, it had expanded to 993 km across the country.

“Delhi-NCR has witnessed the maximum metro rail development, with 393 km of metro lines completed and work ongoing for 143 km.
